How to use IRC

• First, download an install an IRC Client. We recommend mIRC, which is available from http://www.mirc.com/
• When you run mIRC for the first time, you'll need to add the Stratics IRC servers. If the mIRC options window isn't open, open it by selecting 'Options' from the 'File' menu.
• Under the 'Connect' panel, choose 'Add'. The following window will be displayed. Fill in the parameters as shown.
  
• You may want to add some of the Stratics IRC servers to your server list. You can do this by using an updated servers.ini file that you can save directly to the directory you installed mirc (usually C:\mirc) or by manually adding the following servers:

  Stratics FRWS	stratics.frws.com
  Stratics DHP	irc.stratics.dhp.com
  Stratics Grampa	grampa.vlan.net
  Stratics Arden	arden.ic-stories.com
  Stratics Riot	riot.tac.net
  Stratics Truefear	stratics.truefear.net

• Once you have your server(s) added, enter your Full Name, Email Address, and desired Nickname, and then hit 'Connect'. mIRC will remember your settings in the future.
• mIRC will now begin attempting to connect. - If you are not able to successfully connect, you may want to try selecting another Stratics irc server. After connecting, the server's stats information, brief policies, and message of the day will be displayed.
• Please take the time to read over Stratics Public Policy. All that is necessary is common courtesy. Act normal.
• If upon connection you are informed that your nickname is reserved, you may choose another by entering the following command:

  /nick yournewnick

  If you are the owner of the nick, identify using the onscreen instructions.
• Once all is ready, its time to hop into a chat channel. The following are examples of commands you can enter

  /j FallenAge     Joins Fallen Age Discussion Channel
  /j FAHOC         Joins Fallen Age House of Commons Channel
  /list            Lists all public channels on the server
  /whois Krozy     Provides information about the user 'Krozy'
  /msg Krozy hi    Sends the private message 'hi' to user 'Krozy'
  /ignore Idiot    Ignores messages from user 'Idiot'
