<Savant>PvP is already in, it's the jail/reporting/bounty system that we call the "self-defense" system.
 
<Krozy>So if there are 6 gems, and 6 cubes, that makes over 17,000 combinations per item.. does that sound right?

<Krozy>Can you use more then 1 type of gem or cube in the same item? like 2 slots of red gems, 2 slots of blue?

<Savant>The return is fractional for using the same kind of gem, of course.
<Savant>Currently the first 3 levels of Gem Upgrades are in.

<Azreal>Is it going to be an open market or closed, ie UOs open unending money, or will there be alimit on the amount of money in the land at one time?
<Savant>Open ended, but like I said, there are more money sinks than I can count on one hand.

<Savant>Yes.
 
<Savant>You'll start with 199 levels of play, about 11 quests, 4 hunting areas, 1 dungeon, 1 town, 5 NPCs, 3 Gem Levels, Deathmatches... And within a week or two you'll get the PvP Self-Defense system and Secure Trade...
<Savant>Then a few weeks after that, Guilds and levels 100-300, 5 new areas, 2 new dungeons (including a 11 tier dungeon), and a new town.
<Zoidy>11 tier dungeon? are tiers like levels of the dungeon?
<Savant>Yes, 11 levels to the dungeon.
<Zoidy>is it really dark in the dungeons
<Savant>Not yet. Darkness is still being worked on, because I hate "really dark" stuff. Detracts from the fun to have to blast up your gamma just to be able to play.

<Savant>There will be a web-based report tool.
<Paynen>in your worst case scenario, what is the number of bugs you are preparring to handle per week?
<Savant>As many as we can.

<Zoidy>How long do the seasons last in RL time?
<Savant>Seasons are in in colonization, not in the RPG yet, but I have no idea how long they last.. I can only keep so much info in my head before my ears start to bleed. ;)
 
<Volundr>so, the need to adjust darkness implies that there's no "light" type spell?
<Savant>Yes, there's a light spell, and candles.

<Savant>Dragons will probably be the King of the Hill creatures.

<Savant>So far the only things we're doing that are "group only" are the Class Rank quests.

<Savant>Depends if you sent in a CD or not.
<Savant>If you sent a CD, then we'll be shipping.
<Savant>If you didn't and you're international, you'll get to download.

<Savant>128+ is superb. On my home PC which is 96 RAM and a Matrox Millennium 32 MB G400 card... it's a bit choppy.

<Savant>Yeah, modem speed is not a problem.
<Savant>RAM is what's important.

<Savant>Any 3D card, really.
<Savant>The RPG is 2D, which is why RAM is your friend.

<Savant>Yep, thats fine.

<Savant>Each monster dies kinda funny.

<Savant>Well, there's only 1 town right now, we'll see what we do when we make more. ;)

<Savant>Right.
<Volundr>is the increased toughness based on level or exp points?
<Krozy>If you are high level, and go after some level 1 type critter, will you still get exp points?
<Savant>Levels really mean nothing besides your stats.
<Savant>Krozy, sure.
<Krozy>so its not really "harder to gain exp", but rather.. it takes substantially more exp between levels to level up -- traditional approach
<Savant>Right.
<Krozy>So its like D&D model as opposed to EQ, where no exp is awarded for killing a snake
<Savant>The cost to increase stats increases exponentially as you increase them... monsters give exponentially more experience as you hunt higher level ones.
 
<Toysoldier>how many are u accepting for beta overall?aproximately?
<Savant>5,000 over the course of 2 months
<Toysoldierhmm..so 5000 out of 15000 applicant right?
<Savant>15,000 currently.
<Savant>We get 300-500 a day on average.
 
<Krozy>What kind of potions will there be? Im assuming healing, and probably to boost esp, but what else?
<Savant>Healing, Spirit, Cure Disease, Stamina -- currently.
<Savant>Well, and the liquids used in upgrading equipment
 
<Krozy>Will there be any craftsmans marking ability?
<Savant>Nope
<Savant>But your colony will likely produce stuff like "Krozy's scimitar" which is way cooler anyway. ;)

<Savant>Our engines (there are 2) was created by our partners in this project.
<Savant>We do have our own 3D engine though, which we're making our next 2 games on. ;)

<Savant>Yes, we have a Korean partner in this project.
<Savant>They provide us with some massive manpower. ;)
 
<Azreal>Savant are you coding in thigns like, chess, checker, poker ect?
<Savant>Azreal, I don't code. ;)
<Azreal>IE an infrastructure for games, UO had chess but no ruleset
<Savant>I doubt it, Az. We're providing a lot besides just monsters, so games to keep you entertained when you're supposed to be playing the "real" game just aren't planned.
 
<Ratatoo>do we get surnames or titles for achievenments in the game?
<Savant>Ratatoo, we're working on that.

<Savant>Immediate.
<Savant>Stuff doesn't kill you in one hit (unless you're way overhunting) nor do they chase you everywhere and you can't run away...
<Savant>There's no need for people to log out to avoid death.
<Savant>Remember, we're not those other games. ;)

<Savant>We're considering a timer on logout, but I just haven't decided yet. I have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages.

<Savant>Not currently.
<Savant>Currently you log back into town, where you're safe from PvP
<Lewie>can we change the towns that we log back into?
<Savant>Yes, you'll be able to bind in some fashion.
